M. Night Shyamalan Announces Next Film Will Be Unbreakable Sequel Titled ‘Glass’

Yup you heard it right. M. Night is making an Unbreakable sequel titled Glass that is set to come out in 2019. He made this announcement via twitter and it’s really of no surprised when you think about it. Back in January M. Night released Split, which was a movie that very little people had faith in. It landed up exceeding expectations both critically and financially which opened the door for this Glass to be realistic. Now at the end Split *Spoilers* it was revealed that the film took place within the same universe as Unbreakable, which opened up the rumor mill about a possible sequel including characters from both films. We are getting exactly that because confirmed for the movie are Bruce Willis, Samuel Jackson, James McAvoy, and Anya Taylor-Joy. This sets up what is sure to be an intriguing confrontation.

This is news that had me literally cheering because Unbreakable is one of my favorite movies of all time and Split was a fantastic movie as well. M. Night sure does have his critics, but if there’s one thing that can’t be denied is his creativity. Even his misfires in the past were not because he lacked the imagination and creativity to make an original story. It was because the plots got convoluted and lacked focus. The Unbreakable property is one that M. Night seems to care for quite a bit. He wrote McAvoy’s character in Split back in 2000 when he was writing Unbreakable, but just couldn’t find a way to fit him in the movie. He’s now in a position to have these characters fully realized, and if he can avoid his past mistakes he has potential to make something really special.
